Who we are

This site is run by Hugo Greene Enterprises LLC ("Hugo Greene", "we", "us"), a small business in North Branford, Connecticut. This policy explains what information we collect through hugogreene.com, what we do with it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Booking a call. Your name, email address, time zone, and any notes you add.
• Our forms. Whatever you enter in our new-client, social media, website hosting, and job application forms. That can include contact details, business details, and anything you choose to share.
• Our chat assistant. The messages you type into the chat on this site.
• Our website check tool. The website address you enter, the business name if you add one, and your email address if you choose to give it.
• Payments. If you buy a service from us online, your name, email address, and payment details are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
• Email and phone. Anything you send us directly.

Information collected automatically

• Basic visit data. Like most websites, our host records technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. This keeps the site working and secure.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how people use the site in aggregate, such as which pages are visited. It uses cookies.
• Meta Pixel. We use Meta's (Facebook and Instagram) pixel to measure our ads. It records that a page was visited and, when you book a call, that a booking happened. When you book, your email address and name are scrambled in your browser (a one-way process called hashing) before being sent to Meta, which uses them to match the booking to an ad. Meta may use this data to show you ads, including ads from us.
• Location and security checks. When you use the website check tool, we record your approximate location based on your connection, and a bot check from Cloudflare helps block automated abuse. Our chat and check tools also count requests per connection, so no one can overload them.
• Your own browser. The chat keeps your recent conversation in your browser so it survives a page reload. It is cleared when you close the tab.

How we use it

• To reply to you, schedule calls, and do the work you hire us for.
• To send you the results or report you asked for.
• To understand how the site is used and whether our advertising is working.
• To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
• To meet legal and accounting obligations.

We do not add you to a mailing list because you used a tool or booked a call. If we ever start a newsletter, you will have to sign up for it yourself.

How AI is used on this site

Our chat assistant sends the messages you type to Anthropic's Claude service to write a reply. We do not store your chat conversations on our servers. Our website check tool works out its findings with fixed rules. Only those findings, without your website address, business name, or email, are sent to Claude to write a one-line summary. Any report or email Hugo Greene sends you is written or reviewed by a person.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the services that help us run this site and our business, and only for that purpose:

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Under some state privacy laws, sharing data with Meta for advertising can count as "targeted advertising". You can opt out of that at any time (see below).

Your choices

• See, correct, or delete your information. Email nick@hugogreene.com and we will respond within 45 days.
• Opt out of targeted advertising. Email us and we will stop using your information for ad targeting. You can also adjust your Meta ad preferences.
• Analytics. You can install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
• Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.

We don't currently change how the site works based on browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals. The options above work either way.

Connecticut residents and residents of other states with privacy laws may have additional rights, such as the right to appeal a decision we make about your request. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live. To appeal, reply to our response with "appeal" in the subject line.

How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, such as an ongoing client relationship, and as long as the law requires for business and tax records. Results from the website check tool are kept only to deliver your report, unless you ask us to follow up. Analytics and advertising data is kept according to Google's and Meta's own settings.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to the information we hold is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.

Children

This site is for businesses and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will make it clear on the site.
